This is a very simple breathing exercise or pranayama to help you quiet and relax your body and mind, lower your stress and feel generally better. It is easy to do and doesn’t take long to learn.
Here’s how to do it.
Try and keep your breath slow and smooth. Keep it continuous.
Sit comortably.
Place your left hand on your left knee in chin mudra.
Place your middle two fingers on your right hand on your third eye.
Exhale completely and close your right nostril with your right thumb.
Inhale through your left nostril and then close the left nostril with your left ring finger.
Open the right nostril and exhale through the right nostril.
Leave this nostril open and inhale through it and then cover and close this nostril.
Retain the breath for a count of 8, close your eyes and focus on a point between the eyebrows.
Open the left nostril and exhale through the left side.
Repeat up to 12 times.
Start and finish with an exhale on the left side.
