Hi! My name is Kay. My passion is helping women with ADHD (like me) to overcome the challenges of neuro-diversity.
Especially women who feel out of control and don’t feel like they can get it together. Or who think it’s too late, or they are too old or beyond help for some other reason. Or they think they have tried everything and they’ve given up on themselves—basically, women who want to become their own best friend, rather than their own worst enemy.
Many women with ADHD or ADD do not get diagnosed as children. If you slipped through the net, the chances are that you spent a long time beating yourself up for being late, disorganized, clumsy, addicted, impulsive, compulsive, disorganized or unable to pay attention to details. You may have lost interest in things before you completed them.
If you have symptoms of ADHD, or a formal diagnosis, Ayurveda and CBT can help you. You can change the stubborn habits or addictions that are frustrating you, no matter how many times you have failed.
You can learn to trust yourself again and make lasting changes. I know. I have radically changed pretty much everything about my life, and so I’m here to say you can do the same! I learned to put some basic routines in place and take small actions in a systematic way. I figured out the stuff that was holding me back, and I’m still a work in progress. We all are.
I’m especially interested in helping people heal their relationship with food or alcohol and their bodies. Food really is medicine, and it has the power to heal both body and mind. However, everyone has different dietary needs, and what is best for one person may not be at all useful for another. Therefore, Ayurveda is not a rigid diet with fixed rules and black-and-white instructions. It does not use external measurements like counting calories, carbs or fat. Rather, Ayurveda encourages us to look inside ourselves to determine our own needs and then choose the foods that can help us find balance. I have learned to combine and prepare food that gives me tons of energy, improves my health, and leaves me feeling completely satisfied.
My Background
Professionally, I have a rich background in health, both as a practitioner and teacher in nursing, alternative therapies, health coaching and CBT counselling for eating disorders. I have helped many people overcome severe eating disorders using cognitive behavioural therapy.
Although I can certainly draw on knowledge and experience from these mainstream disciplines, I have found that Ayurveda and Yoga have the tools to cut to the chase and allow change to happen much more quickly, especially when combined with the tools of CBT. Yoga and Ayurveda have given me a richer and more robust body, mind and spirit framework to practice and help others.
